Hydrogen peroxide + salt = an ultra powerful disinfectant!
The hydrogen peroxide produced by Lourdes machines is useful for disinfecting (the machine itself, your worktop, your sponges, brushes, etc ...)
By adding a tablespoon of salt, a chemical reaction occurs (with the process of oxygenation of the water): you then produce a powerful disinfectant and deodorant yourself.
This product is ten times more effective than bleach ! And you produce it with water and cooking salt! [i]
It forms HOCL (Hypochlorous Acid[ii]), known for its disinfectant and deodorizing qualities, and NaOH (sodium hydroxide[iii], also called caustic soda), known for its capabilities as a cleaning product (also pipe unblocker).
Studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of this product on the following bacteria:
Escherichia col, Salmonella Enteritidis, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus to name a few (read the studies cited in endnote[iv] and [v]). Even wooden kitchen boards (the most difficult to disinfect) are treated effectively with this product !
We remind you that you should not drink hydrogen peroxide under any circumstances!
Depending on the concentration and time of application, it can also create redness on the skin.
That's why our Lourdes machines are equipped with a system that illuminates the water in blue when you need to generate hydrogenated water (good to drink), and in red when you generate hydrogen peroxide (do not drink). Hydrogen peroxide has a chlorinated smell anyway that will deter you from drinking it!
